I want my cakes to taste as good as they look and I am passionate about good ingredients, so everything that goes into my cakes you can rest assured is the best quality. These include unsalted butter, free-range eggs and organic flour, some of which comes direct from Whissendine Windmill. Where available, Fair-Trade ingredients are also used, including cocoa, some jams and chocolate. My fruit cakes are steeped in brandy and matured ideally for 6 weeks. Sponge Cakes are baked as near to the celebration as possible to ensure they are as fresh as possible and of course contain NO preservatives. I also label all of my cakes so you know exactly what is in them and include allergy information (as recommended by Trading Standards).
With regards to prices, I try to keep them fair. Good ingredients are not cheap and some designs are very time consuming but I will do my best to accommodate all budgets. As a Mum I know 'HOW' expensive children's parties can be and try to keep children's cake prices as low as possible. Fairy cakes decorated to your party theme are always a popular choice.
Supermarkets offer a wide range of designs but the cakes often include hydrogenated fats and vast amounts of preservative to enable them to survive 2-3 weeks on a shelf. However my cakes, admittedly may be slightly more expensive, but taste delicious, are made fresh to order using quality ingredients and can be decorated to compliment the occasion!
Beautiful ingredients make beautiful cakes.
I have completed a Food & Hygiene Course and my kitchen has been inspected by Rutland County Council. I have also completed courses in Sugar Craft at Casterton College and more recently a Masterclass with the Little Venice Cake Company in London and a Floristy Course at Brooksby College; the latter giving me the skill to arrange flowers on cakes.
Enjoying a Masterclass with Mich Turner from the Little Venice Cake Company.
